British Orienteering - I am already a member of BO, why do I need to join BMBO?
British Mountain Bike Orienteering has its own insurance for cycling events.
This ensures ALL riders and organisers are covered for 3rd party insurance.
Could I ride in an event without joining BMBO as a member?
Yes it's possible if you want to come along and give an event a try before joining as a BMBO member.
You will need to register as a Day Rider though, either now whilst you are on-line or by completing a Day Rider form when you arrive on the day of the event to enter.
If you are Under 21, please join BMBO as a Member for free.
If you would like to try an event, please take a couple of minutes now to register as a Day Rider on line (go to Membership types page for more information). You can then go to the Calendar page to find an event and follow the prompts to enter on line.
This on-line registration and on-line event entry saves you and the event organiser time and admin on the day.
Riding as a Day Rider is ideal for anyone wishing to give the sport a try, get a feel for the excitement of the event format and to meet a few other riders.
Hopefully you will discover the thrill of some exciting riding whilst deciding your own route and then want to simply upgrade your Day Rider registration to become a BMBO member. Becoming a BMBO member will also save you money at future events as Day Riders pay a small surcharge at each event.
Do I qualify for Member discount offers?
All paying BMBO members qualify for the discounts.
This is what has been agreed with the sponsors. Those with paid up active membership will qualify.
Your membership card will reflect your eligibility to discounts.
You can download your card from your "My Membership page" when you are logged onto the site.
If you are Under 21 and have a free membership, you would need to consider upgrading to a paying BMBO Member status to qualify. A quick look at the discounts available may make this an easy decision!
Sponsors will be validating eligibility through a web-link and checking membership cards for in-store purchases.
Echeques - why can't I pay by echeque.
BMBO do not accept payment by Echeque.
These payments take up to 9 days to clear and there is not a way of automatically linking this payment to your membership account.
How can I become a member of British Mountain Bike Orienteering?
Click on the "Join Now" link.
You can pay a small annual fee to become a BMBO member (Under 21s are free).
Day Rider registration is free and can also be done on-line in the same way.

Insurance - I have my own insurance, why don't I get a discount.
BMBO insures ALL of its event and as part of this insurance policy ALL riders are insured Third Party.
We do this to ensure that Organisers and Land owners have sufficient cover from the BMBO Event Insurance.
CTC, British Cycling or any other third party cycling insurance policies are not required for BMBO events. You may wish to take out insurance for your other cycling activities.

Why does membership run January to December and not for 12 months from issue.
We insure all our riders. Insurance is based on a 12 monthly renewal, our insurance renewal date is 1st January.
Our membership year is aligned with our insurance so that we declare the correct membership to our insurers.
