MTBO WOC Selection and MWOC Riders
Posted: 05/03/13
Calling all GB MTBO Masters and Elite Riders – please read this!
This year’s MTBO WOC and MWOC are in different venues and as selectors we are trying to get an indication of who is interested in competing in either of these events. The WOC is to be held in Estonia from 26th-31st August, whilst the MWOC is in Portugal from the 9th-13th October.
With preliminary entries for WOC needed by early May and a late UK MTBO season we are faced with the challenge of selecting from a very small number of actual events. If we are made aware of those riders who are interested in advance we can judge the number of places to allocate.
Also, of note, there have been some changes to the format of the WOC Long Event with each country automatically being allocated one ride and subsequent place allocated based on performance at World Cup/Champs events.
This means that for the GB Women we have two places (the extra thanks to Em’s fantastic performance last year) and for the GB Men we currently have one place. The impact of this is that riders may only be able to ride a couple of events (Sprint, Middle, Long – if selected and relay – if selected).
In view of these changes we are trying to gauge interest early on and this will also help us to make selection decisions based upon the limited number of early season events. As always the various Bulletins are available to view on the MTBO WOC/MWOC websites detailing costs, venues, accommodation etc.
Obviously the Masters are not affected by these changes in format as riders go on a self selection basis. We would however like those who are likely to ride to let the selectors know at the email address below.
If there are any questions then please email the selectors (below).
