MTBO. Last weekend saw rounds 5 & 6 take place in the forests of Cumbria. Saturday started off with a 'warm up' race in Grizedale Forest. Plenty of long legs, up & over or round the many hills on offer, ensured that the riders were well and truly warmed up. The men's race on the A course proved to be a nail biter with Andy Conn and Killian Lomas vying for top honours. In the end it was Andy who took the top spot by a mere 2 seconds after 80 minutes of racing. There plenty of W50s trying to topple Charlie Somers Cocks from the top spot on the B course but in the end experience counted and Charlie had a comfortable win.
On C Max Vesty in his first ever MTBO stormed round leaving local lad Ross Ferguson in his wake.
On Sunday the action moved to Whinlatter Forest in the North of the county. Very different in character to Grizedale, the courses were shorter but much hillier. The were no round the hill options this time!
Killian had his revenge, after Andy missed a control, and took the British long Distance crown. Beth Clayton was determined to stop Charlie getting the top spot but in the end was denied by a mere 19 seconds after 90 minutes on the bike. The action moves further south in November for the concluding event of the 2013 National League. Killian has found another of his, trademark, pocket handkerchief sized areas in Sheffield but assures me that there will be about 60 minutes riding time to be had.
MBO Score - Just two events left in the league. D&W stage the penultimate event at Hayfield in the Peak District whilst the league reaches it's climax at the Nymbo event in Masham Yorkshire. The final league presentations will follow straight afterwards.
Full copies of both leagues can be found on the Results Leagues Tab on the left hand side of the home page. Please report any errors to me on mbo@bmbo.org.uk.as soon as possible.
