MTBO league 2016 gets underway in just two weeks
Posted: 18/04/16
Unlike MBO Score you will visit the controls in a fixed order and for once you will clear the map! The aim is to complete the course as fast as possible. Fast and furious action guaranteed.Have a look at http://www.bmbo.org.uk/mtbo/ for more information.
There is only two weeks until the first event in the 2016 National MTBO league.
The league starts with a double header in Yorkshire on Bank Holiday weekend. Last used in 2013, Penistone provides a complex series of small paths on open moorland. Back Allotment takes us back into more familiar forest terrain. The Back Allotment uses a newly extended version of the successful Swinsty event area last used in 2015. A weekend of contrasts to kick off the 2016 season.
The following weekend sees the action move into the Lake District. Setmurthy Forest is a small woodland on the edge of Cockermouth with a network of tracks formed by the local bikers. The area will provide a challenge to your technical riding and navigational skills. On Sunday we revisit Grizedale Forest and the first chance to use the latest version of the map which is now upgraded to show the IOF 8 grades of track. Route choice will be the key to this event which is largely on forest track in contrast to the technical character of Setmurthy.
Entries for all of these events are now open. Be nice to the planners and get your entries in early.
There are currently 11 events in the 2016 series but 3 of these are still awaiting final confirmation. In the event of all them taking place it will be the best 6 from 11 to count.
The full listing is attached.
Note that for league purposes the Three Yorks Forest series will count as 3 separate events but the combined times will determine the British Sprint Champion.
The British Middle Championship event has yet to be nominated.
Happy riding!
