British MTBO Series 2019
Posted: 30/08/19
Here is a chance to try something a little bit different. MTBO is a branch of Mountain Bike Orienteering that uses orienteering style large scale maps. Riders start at timed intervals and navigate around a series of controls in a set order. The challenge is to pick the optimum route between controls and complete the course in the fastest possible time. A sprint course may take as little as 30 minutes to complete but will require fast decision making whilst a long course may last up to 2 hours. Here are the details of 4 events that will be taking place towards the end of this year. They are open to riders of all abilities despite the grand title.
22nd Sept British Sprint Champs - Hollins Head - Ripon - Planner Tim Evans.
9th November British Long Champs - Mabie Forest - Dumfries. planner Tony Brand-Barker.
10th November British Middle Champs -Drumlanrig Castle - Dumfries. Planner Bob Cherry
24th November Cannock Chase. Planner Mark Stodgell.
There may also be two late additions to the calendar by Killilan Lomas and John Houlihan .
Best 3 events will count towards the National Series 2019.
Final details of all of these events and entries will appear on the BMBO website in due course.
