British MTBO Championships
Posted: 29/06/21
The British MTBO Championships moved to Scotland for the very first time and, unusually, we had all three distances held on the same weekend. The net result was a fantastic weekend of competition with no less than four events on offer.
Steve Smirthwaite and Keith Dawson were the main instigators along with many members of Moravian Orienteers helping out.
The areas selected provided superb quality orienteering by providing both technical and physical challenges on a par or better than many international events.
Needless to say the Scottish weather intervened on Friday evening with a good soaking but even the notorious midges couldn't spoil the overall weekend.
We have a new set of champions:
Sprint Course: Ian Nixon and Charlie Somers Cocks
Middle Course: Janine Inman and Ian Nixon
Long course: Edwyn Oliver-Evans and Rachel Drew.
Well done to you all and to everyone who made it a good competition.
Full race reports and results will be found on the Moravian Orienteering Club website.
A heartfelt thanks to Steve, Keith and the rest of the team. I am sure that we will all be looking forward to our next visit to this great area.
