Following last years SAF event and the multiple clearances I decided to revert to the standard format. Having 29 controls and an A3 1.25000 map allowed me to be sure of no clearances this year. And so it was that the top scores were just over 500 from a possible 600, so job done.
Congratulations to Ian, Ifor, Mark and Will who all scored within 10 points of each other. A number of others were very close behind which is great to see.
Although the conditions were somewhat sticky no one appeared to have had too much trouble in that respect. The weather was kind to us and if anyone had time to notice the scenery was perfect.
A number of early finishers had bad experiences, disappearing off the map on the western side. That does appear to be a short coming of ending the map in the middle of the forest. I was interested that although some have Garmin (as safety devices) these did not seem to help with relocation (or cheating?)
As a convert to ebiking of late, I was pleased to see a good number taking part at my event. I am hoping they will provide me with enhanced competition during the new season.
