Event Report
That’s it! The second year of Lakes MBO now wrapped up. Sadly, we finished on a rather damp note but that was more than made up for by the warm reception and refreshments in Wilf’s café afterwards.
Seven events ranging from the Forest of Bowland in the South to Great Strickland in the North gave you a variety of landscapes and riding to pit your skills against. Some classic Lakeland areas and some rarely frequented areas added to the variety of the challenge.
Many thanks go to the 7 organising teams without whom it wouldn’t have happened. Organising an event is hard work, but planners come back year after year because they enjoy trying to outwit you all and find the challenge very rewarding. Even more so when they hear the many kind words and appreciation, they receive from you, the riders, after the event.
If you fancy having a go to see what it is like on the ‘other side’ get in touch. There will be plenty of help available to get you started.
A huge well done to Tom Gibbs and Angela Brand-Barker for winning the overall categories, a slightly smaller well done to the class winners and a heartfelt well done to the rest of you for turning out to support our events despite, at times, some very unpleasant weather, but this is the Lake District….!
Great Strickland and the Askham Fells was voted the event of the season by the riders. The sunny weather and the superb views must have won you over.
Thanks also must go to our sponsors. Wheelbase Cycles who provided the vouchers which I hope you are eagerly waiting to spend and for providing a venue for our final event. Alpha Financial Service Advice Ltd kindly funded the tee shirts that you are proudly wearing and the trophies that have pride of place on your mantle pieces. Thanks once again.
The final results can be seen on the BMBO website and league table can be seen on our Facebook page.
We look forward to meeting you all again next year starting at the Oddfellows Arms in Caldbeck on 18th March. Keep an eye on the BMBO website for details of more events as they are finalised.
Safe riding
Tony & Angela BB and the rest of the organising team.
