Event Report
The excellent facilities of Twycross House School in North-West Leicestershire was again the venue to explore this area and provide a course that resulted in a close contest with the result in doubt until the last riders had returned and downloaded their scores.
With the School located in the South-West corner of the map there was a large area to be ridden with a total of 600 points on offer from 30 check points. The ground conditions were fast and firm as a result of the long Summer drought with little in the way of mud.
The area included such features as Sence Valley Forest Park, The National Forest and appropriately at this time, Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Wood. Route choice was going to be critical, and so it proved.
The final result was very close between Rob Crowfoot and Nuno Cerqueira both M21 riders. With Rob choosing a clockwise route and Nuno going anti-clockwise the final result was 460 to 450 in Rob's favour. Kevin Horsley was 3rd on 429 and leading M40.
Jason Howell was leading M50 in 4th. Jason Howell M50, Ian Daniels M60 and Dennis Jaques M70 led their respective categories.
Val Ravenhill was 10th overall and leading female rider. Richard Gennis and Tracey Hinde were the leading pair to finish. Riding their first event Chloe Hannabuss and Collette Porter won their category.
Experienced organisers Phil Thursby, Bernard Lamb and Jeff Mew received many complimentary comments about the venue, event, the course and how much riders had enjoyed it, which have been much appreciated.
