Event Report
Well we promised you flat after the epic hills of last week's event at Uldale. In fact he only mountains seen yesterday were the very generous portions of food served up at the Lowther Arms. It was the first time that we had used this venue and it proved to be perfect with the beer garden to operate from. A huge thankyou to Vicky and her staff for a very warm and friendly welcome.
There were no hills but as always on the Solway coast the wind caused many of you problems at the end. Route choice also caused a few problems for some. There was a fairly obvious run of controls around the outside of the map but in the centre was a tricky little knot of controls that required some thinking. The top three riders all managed to clear the course but all three tackled those controls differently. You can examine there routes and marvel at their fitness by looking at the splits on the results. My 'prize' goes to Alex who I think had the cleanest route with fewest 'in and outs'. Around 63km was the approximate distance needed to clear the course.
Once again Tom Gibbs won the men's course with Fiona Wright taking the women's honours.
Next time we head away from the coast and to Keswick where we will be starting from Biketreks shop. Biketreks are our kind sponsors this year. They a have said that they will open the shop so that you can top up with any last minute spares. We have not booked a food venue this time but there are many food outlets in town for those in need.
Please note that there is no parking at the venue so plea use the town car parks.
See you there!
