Event Report
Lower Quinton Quest
With some uncertainty of the event taking place due to a slow entry rate, on the day there were 44 riders - a fantastic turnout.
The weather had been good for several days beforehand leaving the trails in good condition.
Only one bridleway was overgrown but with an alternative bridleway or a road route available I'm not sure if anyone braved it.
There were lots of comments about the amazing views from the top of Ebrington Hill. Warwickshire isn't known for being hilly but it is on the border with Gloucestershire where the Cotswolds start.
With a great mixture of surfaces - grass fields, gravel tracks, woods and a corn field there was a challenge for everyone. The biggest challenge was checkpoint 8 at the bottom of a steep sided valley, I think there may have been some walking involved.
The other challenge was checkpoint 6! Unfortunately, this wasn't where it should have been, riders were credited with the points, hopefully not too much time was lost by them searching for it.
Great rides from everyone with Ifor Powell taking the win from local riders Alistair Landels and John Stather (pair), Alistair Powell and Michael Rackham (e-bike) tied for third.
Sheila Pearce (e-bike) and Beth Perrou were the leading ladies.
Great to have some youngsters having a go Tom Lewis (Y18), Daniel Booth in a generation team with his Dad Matt and Adam Landels with his Mum Juliette.
Great turn out, thanks to all the helpers, profits will be donated to Air Ambulance.
