Event Report
When we started planning this event we quickly realised that there were some very tough sections which may have been beyond the reach or desires of some. Adding more of the lanes section to the south made the map too big but gave some gentler options. This meant that the potential winners would opt for the easier controls and not visit the fabulous mountain scenery to the North. Solution was make it 4 hours so that the fast riders had to go into the mountains, or forfeit time, leaving the majority the choice of mountain, lanes or a bit of both.
From the many positive comments heard on the finish line it seemed to work out OK. We were surprised by the sheer variety of route combinations that were put together. We had several variations in mind but the ingenuity of the riders surprised us with route choices we had not considered.
Congratulations to Tom Gibb and Fiona Wright for their winning rides and also to Mike Hayward for first EBiker.
All results are on the BMBO.org.uk website.
The next and final event of the 2024 series is starting from Wheelbase Cycles at Staveley who have kindly supported the LakesMBO series for the last 4 years by providing vouchers for the winners.
This will be on the 20th October and will be a 3 hour 30min event. Prize giving will be in the upstairs room at Wilf’s cafe across the yard from Wheelbase. Hopefully you will stay behind to enjoy the social side of our sport and maybe you will be a prize winner too!
