Event Report
The area we used in the afternoon was compromised by using the airfield in the morning. Thanks to Dave Evans for planning an excellent course although it was obvious that no-one was going to score highly with the best of the Wolds terrain on the western half of the map. I enjoyed my ride through lovely scenery and always appreciate the different landscape that this area provides. Despite the heavy rain recently the tracks across this chalk area had dried up nicely. I did take 2 bikes on Saturday and it was obvious which one I rode on each event.
There was a slight problem at Control 21 so please let me know if you couldn't find the control and I will credit your score with 25 points. The track has changed since the wood was felled earlier this year. The bend should have been at the top edge of the wood but it was nearer the bottom edge which discouraged some riders from going along it. It was the correct distance from the junction just at the wrong angle.
Andy Conn just managed to outscore Andrew Windrum with Mark Stodgell, Andy Massey and Dennis Jacques the only other 3 riders to score more than 300 points. Congratulations to Karen Blackburn with the highest female score and the Brand-Barkers for beating all the other Mixed teams as they finished 9th overall. Thanks again to Jens for another excellent map and all the helpers who made everything run smoothly especially the control collectors - John, Andy, Bob and Dave.
After 4 events some familiar faces are appearing at the top of the leader board. Andrew Windrum is back in front on M21 although Sue Barker is catching Jenny Sutton in W21. Andy Massey is still ahead of Andy Conn despite AC winning on Saturday and Sheila Pearce looks comfortable in W40. John Rawden had another good ride to lead M50 as does Karen Clarke in W50. Dennis Jacques and Karen Blackburn are leading M60 and W60 respectively after excellent rides while Richard & James Martin are still leading the Generation class despite finishing second to the Evans.
