Event Report
Upper Hopton Race Report
Another surprising turnout, the date for this event conflicted with a lot of other running and biking events in the area so we were pleasantly surprised to see so many of you join us for what turned out to be a lovely sunny warm day!
We were really lucky this weekend to have John Rawden, plan the whole course for us, and plan he did, he managed to give you all, a tricky little area with plenty of mud, a lot of route choices and as usual for around here, a lot of hills to climb. Thanks again from us all to John for all his work on this one.
We opened early doors so that a couple of our loyal competitors, could manage to tackle John’s course and juggle prior family commitments this meant some of us leaving home a little after 5, that’s 5 in the morning! It does exist and on a Sunday morning. The rest of the normal world started arriving around 8:30, by 10:00 everyone was through the start and heading out in all directions. Immediately it was apparent the map had no obvious route choice, both runners and bikers were heading off all over the place, a fact that was loved by all and discussed at great length, a few hours later back in the event centre, where everyone enjoyed some great food, thanks to all the very understanding staff at the Travellers Rest (a venue we will be going back to again in the future)
We are now getting the summer season ready for you all, as usual the summer season offers prises, these are awarded based on your, best scores from your best three events,
Biking or running
1st 2nd & 3rd place male and female solo, 1st and 2nd place team
The results from Sunday are now all sorted.
Biker’s
3rd place goes to Alister Morris (474), 2nd to Will Barraclough (479), 1st to Justin Tayler (486).
Runner’s
3rd place goes to Amanda Crozier (225), 2nd to Robert Noble (240), 1st to Simon Martland (412).
Congratulations to you all, some fantastic results and one or two super human efforts!
Don’t forget that you can meet us every Monday for navigation training, for full details; www.ep-ar.co.uk The next meeting will also include a small section dedicated to tree spotting along with a small discussion on the obvious difference between a Silver Birch and 99% of other UK trees!
