Event Report
Crieff/Strathearn 26 May 2013
The weather was very kind to us for the weekend. On the day before Perthshire was just about the hottest place in the UK. Event day Sunday was a wee bit cooler but still fine. In total we had almost 60 participants including quite a few Generation and Family teams.
I knew nobody would get that close to clearing the course which lead to some interesting route choices. Most favoured the Southern loop which did have a fairly obvious flow to it. It was then a question of how brave or foolish people were in terms of how far North and West they went in the remaining time.
Not many people were tempted by the 30 pointer in the North East.
I hope everybody enjoyed the event and particularly the riding in Strathearn. Hopefully you got to see the bluebells and to smell the wild garlic as you went round.
Congratulations to David Frame who won the men’s event with a score of 323. The second best score on the day was by Angela Brand-Barker with 293 which was a stunning result. David and Ruth Rogers and Keith and Andrew Leinster had a very close battle in the Generation category scoring 203 and 180 respectively which were both excellent. Also a big shout out to Douglas Carchie in the Youth category with a very respectable 188 points. He would have been pushed harder by local lads Cameron Anderson and Struan Donaldson but for early punctures – well done lads!
