Event Report
Cannock Chase is at its most beautiful at this time of year and I was lucky enough to appreciate it's full grandeur whilst putting out the controls on Saturday. I knew the event was going to be challenging as it literally took all day to do it
As there was a very strong pre-entry I knew my efforts would not be in vain.. What I didn't expect was the large number of EOD's. As I was a first timer at handling the SI kit this proved a little overwhelming at times.
However everyone seemed to enjoy their experience which, I hope you agree, is the primary point of the exercise.
On the serious side, despite the infamous bridge 4, the top performers were closely bunched at the top, with 10 all over 400 points. The newly crowned overall BMBO score league champion, Graham Tibbot, almost cleared the course on 474 points closely followed by Killian Lomas on 470 and Mark Rowley, last Years Midlands Champion, on 466. Indeed the top 20 reads like a whose who of elite BMBO competitors in this discipline. I count my self lucky to have attracted such an array of talent. Some thanks for this must go to BMBO for holding the AGM and prize giving at the event.
Of course none of this would have been possible without my core team of family members lead by my tireless wife Erica.
I do hope you all enjoyed the event and that you will all come back for next years event on the 5th November - no sneaking off to bonfires now.
