After a week of dry weather and drying trails competitors turned up concerned about the overnight rains and more muddy trails like the previous Keyworth event. They were assured that the well maintained large network of bridleways at the eastern end of the Chilterns would still be dry and fast riding.
So much so that the winner Ian Cartwright managed to get to all but 2 checkpoints and covered 39 miles and 3000ft of climbing in just over the 3 hours, even more checkpoints than he thought were possible.
There were many close finishes in the classes and second overall was Mark Humphrey (M40 winner) just 1 point in front Mark Rowley in third who unfortunately lost a little time early on with a tumble which looked worse with all the blood than it was and luckily there was no lasting damage.
It was great to see some locals out who were not regular BMBO competitors enjoying the event who we hope may try other events but most definitely be back for next years North Herts Navigator at this great location based at Breachwood Green - we all love a hill up to the finish!!

Many stories and discussions about different route choice took place afterwards whilst enjoying the buffet which raised £135 for the Hertfordshire Air Ambulance.
