What a difference a day makes! Cycling along the bridleway from the event car park westwards the next morning was more like cycling along a river! The storm that passed through the area on Sunday evening certainly made riding a lot muddier / slower.
The event was deliberately planned to make everyone think about what route to take. No rider cleared all checkpoints but as a combined force, you "cleared" the cafe larder, so well done and thanks to you all for supporting the Lakeland Wildlife Park.
There were a number of "first time" MTBO score event riders - great to see new faces. The comment of "was so busy reading the map didn't realise I'd cycled so far" just goes to show that focussed navigation can take your mind off the miles.
Special mention must go to the generation team of Charlie & Jamie Rennie. They have only recently moved to the area from the "flatlands" of Leicestershire. Their score of 310 has made a few of the seasoned riders realise they had over indulged at Christmas!
Graham Tibbott topped the table from Ben Martin. Good to see M21s at the top. It was closer packing in the ladies category with Ruth Walton (W60) being the top scorer on the day.
