Event Report
Thank you to all those who attended the 'sell out' first event of 2018 in the Forest of Dean at the week end. The Small Area Format (SAF) seemed to prove very popular, so much so that we reached or entry limit a week before the start. You may have noticed I did take the conscious decision to move a couple of the CPs in a bit because of all the bad weather and fallen trees. However the week of dry cold conditions improved the ground massively and I think this is reflected in the scores.
Very well done to Hannah & Robin Beeby who won the 2hr Score Event, and also the top 3 in the SAF Event, Ifor Powell (M50) Ian Cartwright (M50) & Tom Hards (M21) all who managed a 500 point course clearance and the positions were down to their finish times. Iwona Szmyd (W21) was the first female on 470 points and it was great that we could award her the overall Female League Champion for 2017.
The other class winners in the SAF ride were, Nick Dalimore (M60) 470, Gary Davies (M40) 460, Nicky Griffin (W50) 400, Mike Wimpenny (M70) 390, Nicola Adams (W40) 386, Harry & Peter Stagg (G) 379, Lisa Welbourn & Bryan Elson (X50) 350, Caroline Dallimore (W60) 330, Huw Higgins-Worrall (Y18) 309 and Carys & Tony Holloway (X40) 240.
The rest of the results are on the BMBO Webpage.
With 2 Events now taken place the League has been published, Ifor Powell has 2 wins from 2 so sits on top, closely followed by Ian Cartwright 1910 and Mark Morgan on 1820, all are M50 and I will update Ifor's class following the next event. Nicky Griffin is the top female rider with 1500 points keen to reclaim the trophy in 2018. 10 Events to go so all to play for and don’t forget your individual scores from both days of the OMM will score as well.
Full League Results are on the Club Webpage below.
Thank you to Pedal a Bike Away for hosting & catering, especially appreciated as it was a very busy day. With the shorter days and later start it I was doubly thankful that some of you could help clear down so many thanks to Shirley and Stephen Robinson, Mark and John Morgan, Nick Dallimore, Ifor Powell and Gary Davies.
Next Event is Chepstow Park Woods on Sunday 4 February, it is 2 hr and 3hr SAF again, we are limited to 60 so we suggest you get your entry in early to avoid disappointment.
