The 5th running of the "North Herts Navigator" started again from the convenient Breachwood Green Village Hill virtually at the end of Luton Airport runway.
This year for a change the route did not venture north of the A505 but went as far south as Wheathampstead.

55 riders turned up to a sunny bright but chilly morning for signing on with many new riders plus 5 who had traveled from Wales in the quest of National Championship points. The map area had many route choices and most headed off east to start with and then south as the checkpoints were closer together on the southern part of the map. This was offset by many small tracks and lanes which lead to tricky navigation. pleasingly all the checkpoints were visited with CP5 only having 5 but CP17 had 47 competitors go there. Mark Morgan from Wales was very surprised and pleased to win with 426 points followed by Kevin Horsley on 420 and Mark Rowley on 419 so a really close finish.

Having put all the controls out on Friday in warm weather and bone dry trails I was certain that the rains on Saturday would have soaked away and this was confirmed when riders returned mud free, for the buffet refreshments which raised £160 for the Hertfordshire Air Ambulance.
