Organisers Information
BMBO always welcomes new organisers and will help them to create outstanding events.
Because BMBO is open to all, no organiser in BMBO has a right to an area, all organisers work together to run events that complement each other.
By working together, strong local leagues can be developed and this is the mainstay of the sport. So if you are the kind of person who wants to work with other like minded individuals, you are very welcome.
Since BMBO promotes best practice, we make all our documentation freely available. We know from riders that other organisations read and use our methods to run events. We hope to spread the wealth of experience that our organisers have developed so that all Mountain Bike Orienteering events are of a high standard.
Event Insurance
BMBO holds an extremely comprehensive Civil Liability Insurance policy which covers the event organisers and participating riders.
Events are insured when they have been sanctioned and have submitted the Risk Assessment.
All riders in all BMBO registered events are insured third party. All riders must be members of BMBO or registered as Day Riders (via the web site or by completing a form on the day of the event).
Many landowners (such as Forestry Commission) insist on rider cover as part of your contract to use their land.
Forestry Commission National Agreement
BMBO has negotiated a national agreement with fair fees for access to Forestry Commission land. All BMBO Clubs need to negotiate access locally, but the contract, insurance and fees are all in place to run your events.
Some other benefits of organising events with BMBO
BMBO has helped negotiated access for organisers to areas by working with the landowner and demonstrating the responsible way BMBO run events.
Hire of the latest electronic punching to help run a smooth event. Riders love looking at their splits and discussing routes with others. SI delivers instant results on the day allowing you to print out results easily as rider come in for all to see.
In 2008, we invested £2700 in latest generation Sport Ident Kit for our organisers. This replaced the serviceable kit we bought in 2005. The new kit requires no programming of boxes so makes organisers lives easier.
